Ruminating in Room 180: Celebrating 25 Years of the UBC Animal Welfare Program
Gather around the table of “Room 180” with us to celebrate our 25th anniversary and learn about animal welfare as we reflect on the past, examine the present, and ponder about the future. Join our host Meghan Lok – who worked with the AWP throughout the anniversary year – and a lineup of our esteemed alumni, to ruminate on how to improve the lives of animals across various areas and topics.
These podcasts were based on an eight-episode webinar series, titled “Improving the Lives of Animals: Celebrating the First 25 Years of the Animal Welfare Program”. We hosted these hybrid webinars on the Monday of each month during the 2022 academic session. Click below to learn about our speakers, who are all alumni of the Animal Welfare Program. We would like to acknowledge that the Animal Welfare Program (AWP) aims to improve the lives of animals through research, education, and outreach. Students, faculty, and visitors in the AWP come from all around the world. We recognize that many members of the AWP are settlers in “Canada”. We acknowledge that we regularly gather, reside, work, and interact with animals on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) and Stó:lō Nations.
