Graduate education is major component of the UBC Animal Welfare Program. Our students complete a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Applied Animal Biology through UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems and conduct original research under the supervision of one of our faculty members.

Visiting International Research Students
The Animal Welfare Program hosts visiting international students who are interested in gaining research experience for short-term periods. We use a UBC program called the Visiting International Research Student Program – also referred to as VIRS – to support visiting students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
