Congratulations to two AWP graduates and to Dr. Marina (Nina) von Keyserlingk for receiving Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring at graduation!

Last Friday at the UBC Land and Food Systems Winter 2023 convocation ceremony, we celebrated Dr. Nina von Keyserlingk, as well as PhD graduate Wali (Mohammad) Sahar and MSc graduate Kai von Rentzell.

Congrats to all!

Nina was awarded a Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring and was recognized at the ceremony. The award recognizes her outstanding mentorship of numerous graduate students over several years. Nina has also received a Killam Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2008 and a Killam Research Prize in 2022.

Wali completed research in the area of dairy cattle welfare, and his thesis is titled “Behavioural Changes Associated with Early Identification of Disease in Dairy Cows”
Kai completed research in the area of companion animal welfare, and his thesis is titled “Implications of international dog rescue operations on Canadian sheltering practices”
