Back in March, undergraduate and graduate students with the Animal Welfare Program presented at the Land and Food Systems Graduate Student Conference (LFS GSC), and undergraduate students presented at the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC). These two conferences were opportunities to showcase not only graduate research projects that undergraduates have been assisting with, but also undergraduate thesis projects.
Congratulations to two of our undergraduate students, Amalia Urloiu and Meghan Lok, who won first place for their posters at each of the conferences!
- Tied for First Place Poster for MURC – Amalia Urloiu presented at both GSC and MURC for her undergraduate thesis “Canadian dairy farmer perspectives on dairy cattle and calf welfare issues during the periparturient period“
- Won First Place Poster for GSC – Meghan Lok presented “Emotional impact and attitudes of self-rehoming versus shelter relinquishing in pet owners” as a poster at GSC, and as an oral presentation at MURC. Watch her poster presentation at GSC here!
- Alexandra Aparicio presented her poster “Are stressed-out calves predictable? Assessing the consistency of coping ability over time in dairy calves” at both GSC and MURC
- Chloe Chambers did an oral presentation on “Identifying the stigmas faced by people who use drugs when seeking veterinary care in accidental pet drug poisonings” at MURC
- Huipin (Julia) Lee is a graduate student who presented a poster on her Master’s project “What’s special about eggs? Chinese Consumers’ Attitudes and Trust Towards Cage-Free Eggs” Watch the longer form of her presentation here!
