What brought you to the Animal Welfare Program?
I came to know the program through the long term collaboration between the AWP and LETA (Applied ethology and animal welfare lab at the Federal University of Santa Catarina – Brazil).
What have you been doing since graduating from the AWP?
After graduating from UBC I continued my research as a postdoctoral fellow at AWP for a short period of time before assuming a professor position in applied ethology and animal welfare at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Paraná located in Curitiba, Brazil. I am very fortunate to continue working in the field of animal welfare and to foster young scientists to use their knowledge to improve the lives of animals.
What advice do you have for students?
My advice for current students would be to cultivate relationships… There is so much to learn from everyone. My advice to recent graduates would be for every barrier you encounter just think what Dan, Nina and David would do.
