Dr. Nina von Keyserlingk elected as a new Director on the National Farmed Animal Health and Welfare (NFAHW) Council Board

Congratulations to Dr. Nina von Keyserlingk for being elected as a new Director on the National Farmed Animal
Health and Welfare (NFAHW) Council Board!


The NFAHW Council provides advice on topics of importance to animal agriculture to the FPT Regulatory ADMs of
Agriculture Committee and all other stakeholders. NFAHW Council is a national organization that brings together
industry, federal, provincial and territorial partners to provide collaborative guidance on cohesive, functional and
responsive farmed animal health and welfare systems in Canada. The Council engages expertise to address
important topics such as animal welfare, emerging diseases, animal health surveillance, antimicrobial use and
resistance, and the emerging theme of “one welfare”.


Dr von Keyserlingk is a professor who is highly influential in the animal welfare field and is one of the most highly
cited animal welfare scientists in the world. She is recognized as a leader in animal welfare research, has extensive
experience speaking to industry stakeholders about farm animal welfare and contributes significantly to farm animal
standards globally. The NFAHW Council is happy to welcome Dr von Keyserlingk as Director and look forward to
working with her!
